More than a new look

More than a new look

20/07/2026

A new visual identity can say a lot about a business, but for us, launching the new Palma Pictures brand wasn't about changing who we are. It was about better reflecting who we've become.

Over the last three decades, the role of a production service company has evolved dramatically. There was a time when clients simply needed someone on the ground to organise logistics, source crew and make a production happen. Today, expectations are very different. Whether it's a commercial, scripted project, photo shoot or branded content campaign, clients are looking for partners who can contribute much earlier in the process, helping solve creative, logistical and commercial challenges before a camera is even switched on.

As the industry has become more complex, productions have become more bespoke. A global fashion campaign has different demands to a streaming series. A direct-to-brand project works differently from an agency-led commercial. No two productions are ever the same, which means there can no longer be a one-size-fits-all approach to production. Increasingly, our role is to listen first, understand what's really needed and build a production solution around the project rather than asking the project to fit a predefined process.

As one of our team puts it, "Clients expect collaborators, not facilitators. They want a partner who can help shape, solve, guide and elevate from the very beginning." It's a simple statement, but one that reflects how much our industry has changed.

That shift has also made local knowledge more valuable than ever. Productions move faster, schedules are tighter and budgets work harder, but having people who genuinely understand a location, know the crews, can anticipate challenges and find opportunities often makes the biggest difference. Those insights don't always appear on a call sheet, but they can shape the success of an entire production.

Technology has transformed the way we all work, and that's something we welcome. Smarter workflows, new production tools and emerging technologies are helping the industry become more efficient than ever before. Yet while technology continues to evolve, experience, judgement and relationships remain impossible to automate. Great production still comes down to people making good decisions, solving problems calmly and bringing creative ideas to life.

That people-first mindset has always been at the heart of Palma Pictures. As our CEO, Mike Day, says: "We've always believed in building something rooted in trust, relationships and a deep understanding of the work. Being seen as a true collaborator is simply a natural progression of that thinking."

In many ways, that's what our new identity represents. Not a new direction, but a clearer expression of how we already work. It reflects the collaborative approach we've built across commercials, scripted, unscripted and photo production throughout Spain and Portugal, and the belief that the best productions happen when great people work together from the very beginning.

The production landscape will continue to change. New technologies will emerge, client expectations will evolve and ways of working will keep shifting. But the value of trusted partnerships, local expertise and genuinely collaborative thinking feels more important than ever. If our brand refresh communicates anything, we hope it's that while the industry never stands still, the importance of people has never changed.
