Driving Sustainability in audiovisual production
As part of its ongoing commitment to more responsible audiovisual production, Palma Pictures has been awarded a grant aimed at reducing the environmental impact and carbon footprint of its activities.
Funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU, with the collaboration of Fundació Turisme Responsable de Mallorca, this grant supports the use of renewable energy, the acquisition of energy-efficient technical equipment, and the digitalisation of environmental management processes.
Firstly, the grant is intended to support the use of 100% renewable electricity at our facilities. The company has maintained a long-standing electricity supply contract based on certified renewable energy with Iberdrola, a key requirement for the awarding of this grant.
In addition, the funding enables the acquisition of state-of-the-art, low-consumption LED technical equipment, including Astera FP1 Titan LED tubes, a SmallHD Cine 24 4K High-Bright professional monitor, and the Aputure Infinity Mat 8×8 lighting system. These solutions replace traditional high-consumption systems, delivering energy savings of between 30% and 70%, while also reducing generator use, transport requirements and set-up times.
Finally, the grant provides a significant contribution towards the implementation of two key systems that support the digitalisation of internal processes, substantially reduce paper usage, and improve the traceability and environmental control of each production.
Through these initiatives, Palma Pictures strengthens its sustainability strategy and continues to move towards a more efficient, digital and low-carbon model of audiovisual production, aligned with the sector’s decarbonisation goals. Thanks to the foundations involved and the support provided through these initiatives, which enable us to continue strengthening our commitment to environmental responsibility.
