Sustainability in Production

At Palma Pictures, being respectful of the places we work in is part of how we run our business. From reducing environmental impact on set, to supporting local initiatives across Iberia, we believe production should have a positive impact.

Our approach combines practical sustainability measures within our operations, alongside long-term partnerships that support creative and local communities.

Sustainability is built into how we operate our studio and support productions across Spain and Portugal. From renewable energy to waste reduction on set, we are continually working to lower the environmental impact of filming.

Key initiatives

Our Mallorca studio facility is powered by over 100 solar panels, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and lowering our carbon footprint.

Productions have the option to run entirely on solar powered energy when filming at our base.

We use fuel free electric generators charged through our solar system, reducing the need for diesel generators on location.

Environmental impact assessments are carried out for every production.

Wardrobe and props are prioritised for rental, reuse and donation wherever possible.

Recycling systems are implemented both on set and in our studio operations.

Refillable water systems reduce single use plastic bottles during filming.

These measures allow us to support productions that are both creatively ambitious and environmentally responsible.

Environmental certification

Palma Pictures has held internationally recognised environmental certifications since 2011

These standards support continuous monitoring and improvement of our environmental practices.

Supporting Local
Community Initiatives

Being based in Mallorca for over three decades means we see ourselves as part of the island’s community. Alongside our production work, we support local initiatives that encourage creativity, education, sport and wellbeing.

6Points Cycling Challenge

We are proud sponsors of the 6Points Cycling Challenge, an endurance cycling event that brings together riders from across Mallorca and beyond.

The event promotes resilience, teamwork and a shared connection with the island’s natural landscape.

Our involvement

Sponsoring the event as part of our commitment to community wellbeing.

Supporting fundraising initiatives connected to the challenge.

Helping raise awareness of organisations working with children and vulnerable groups.

Funds raised through the event support charities focused on children’s wellbeing, health and access to opportunity, alongside community support programmes across Mallorca.

For us, it is a meaningful way to support both the community and the island’s outdoor culture.

Mallorca Schools Debate Finals

For the past eight years Palma Pictures has supported the Mallorca Schools Debate competition, and for the last five years we have hosted the final at our studio.

The initiative helps young
people develop confidence,
critical thinking and public
speaking skills.

Our role

  • Sponsoring the debate programme across schools in Mallorca.
  • Hosting the annual final at our Palma Pictures Studio
  • Welcoming students, teachers and families into a professional creative environment.

Seeing students step onto the stage with confidence and clarity is always inspiring, and it reflects our belief in supporting the next generation of thinkers and storytellers.

Evolution Mallorca
International Film Festival

Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival

Palma Pictures is proud to support the Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival, a global celebration of independent film held here on the island.

The festival plays an important role in bringing together international filmmakers while strengthening Mallorca’s growing film culture.

Our contribution

  • Festival sponsorship for the past three years, continuing into a fourth.
  • €25,000 in production grants provided as in-kind support for winning films
  • Professional production services to help bring selected projects to life

By supporting the festival we aim to help emerging filmmakers take the next step, while contributing to Mallorca’s reputation as a vibrant global production destination.

Supporting Local Producers
and Artisans

We also look for ways to support Mallorca's local
producers through small but meaningful partnerships.

One example is our client welcome packs, which feature carefully selected products from local artisans and food producers.

Products featured include

  • Flor de Sal d'Es Trenc traditional Mallorcan sea salt
  • Olive oil from Son Moragues in Valldemossa
  • Quely crackers, a long established local brand
  • Locally produced jam, vermouth and jamón
  • Postcards by Mallorcan artist Belén Pez

The welcome packs allow our international clients to experience a taste of the island while supporting small local businesses and traditional producers.
