Our strongest year to date for longform. We worked on a host of TV and Film projects with incredible originators, renowned talent and expert technicians from across the globe.
Spain’s diverse backdrops make it a desirable shooting location and continues to attract high-end production houses including Amazon Prime, BBC, ITV Studios and Netflix. Here is a selection of the exciting projects we proudly collaborated on in 2019:
Recent TV & Film Work
The Crown is a drama series following the political rivalries and romance of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign, created by Peter Morgan and produced by Left Bank Pictures for Netflix.
Season three of The Crown features scenes shot with us in locations around Andalucia, southern Spain. Andalucia was selected as a shooting location because it is home to some well-preserved examples of 1960s architecture, which act as key locations visited by Queen Elizabeth during that decade. The successful Netflix series stars a host of famous faces including Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II and Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret.
Season three is streaming now on Netflix, take a look at the trailer below.
The Mallorca Files
We’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with the team from Clerkenwell Films on The Mallorca Files.
As the title suggests, this crime-drama was filmed almost entirely at locations across Mallorca, with prominent sites such as Palma’s old town and the spectacular Serra de Tramuntana mountains making an appearance.
Created by Dan Sefton, the series follows a team of two mismatched police detectives, British Miranda Blake (played by Elen Rhys) and German Max Winter (Julian Looman), as they tackle crime on the island of Mallorca. Season one aired in the UK on BBC One in November 2019 and filming for the second season began that same month.
Hanna (Season 2)
Hanna is a conspiracy thriller written by David Farr (The Night Manager), co-produced by NBCUniversal, Working Title Television and Amazon Studios.
Both a high-concept thriller and coming-of-age drama, Hanna follows the journey of a young girl raised in the forest, as she evades pursuit by the CIA and tries to unearth the truth behind who she is. Starring Esme Creed-Miles, Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman. After working on season one it was our pleasure to also provide production services for season two of this Amazon Prime series.
Our involvement in season two saw us shoot with the team in Barcelona.
Love Island is a reality TV show involving a group of contestants, living in isolation from the outside world in a villa in Mallorca, constantly under video surveillance.
To survive in the villa the Islanders must be coupled up with another Islander, whether it be for love, friendship or money, as the overall winning couple receives 50,000 Pounds (Euros / AUS Dollars).
In 2019 we supported two versions of the popular show, broadcast on ITV2 in the UK and RTL2 in Germany.
The UK Show enjoyed its highest ever ratings in 2019. After airing 42 episodes, the 2019 series averaged 5.7million viewers based on consolidated viewers – the number of people who watched the show at least seven days after the original broadcast date. That statistic is up by 600,000 viewers year on year with the peak episodes breaking the six million viewers mark.
